Westbrook is a neighbourhood located in Kingston, Ontario encompassing the geographic area from Princess Street to Creekford Road between Cataraqui Woods and the edge of Kingston/Odessa. The neighbourhood is popular for its wooded areas and parks, as well as new development areas.
Most homes are single, detached, with some of the newer builds providing more than one unit.There are currently no large apartment buildings in the Westbrook area. The homes are a mix of houses building in the 50s and 60s up to those new streets further north that are still in development.
Demographics
According to the 2011 Census, there are 5,735 people, mostly English speaking, occupying 2,070 dwellings in the area. However, since then many homes have been built and continue to be in development. There is also a strong Portuguese and French presence in the area. Most residents are young families and older generations who own their homes.
Amenities
The budding neighbourhoods of Woodhaven, Cataraqui Woods, and Balmoral Park all offer their own amenities and greenspace within walking distance. In the area, you will find churches, a park, and a mix of families of all income levels. You will also find many schools, including Bayridge Secondary School and Archbishop O’Sullivan Catholic School close by. As for shopping, the Bayridge Centre which offers a Metro and Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, The Cataraqui Centre, and many other businesses along Princess Street offer everything you need in close proximity.
Westbrook offers a country feel while remaining within walking distance to everything the west end of Kingston has to offer. Although the neighbourhood is still growing, there is lots of potential for those who choose to call Westbrook home.
